PORTLAND, Ore. — A slate of talented Portland-area actors fill out the rest of the cast of Something Like Summer. Leading the local cast is an experienced actor and director, Jana Lee Hamblin, as Ben’s mother, Mrs. Bentley. Jana is known for Extraordinary Measures, The West Wing and Lovely Coffee.
Tristan Decker takes the role of Ben’s high school nemesis, Bryce Hunter. Tristan brings extensive stage and commercial experience to the role.

Casting was led by Seattle-based casting director Patti Kalles, who has also cast Blue Seraph Productions’ first two features, Judas Kiss and The Dark Place. Patti has cast many well-known films and TV shows, including Super 8, Superman Returns, Say Anything and Northern Exposure.
“Patti has become an invaluable member of our team,” said writer-producer Carlos Pedraza. “She has really assembled a set of top-notch national and local talent to bring Something Like Summer to life.”
Oregon producers Christopher Toyne and Susan Funk also participated in the local casting process.
THE OTHER SUPPORTING ROLES Allison’s high school boyfriend, Ronnie, will be played by veteran Oregon stage actor Chip Sherman. And taking the role of Ben’s college nemesis, Aaron, and fresh from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, actor Connor Johnston also recently appeared in the NBC series, Grimm.
Rounding out Ben’s family is Riley Stewart, portraying Ben’s sister, Karen. Riley is a talented film and stage actor, and a model. Meanwhile, Madisyn Lane takes on the role of Tim Wyman’s putative girlfriend, Krista Norman. Madisyn has six films and music videos to her credit, as well as stage experience. Matthew Sepeda plays Allison’s college boyfriend, Brian. Matthew trained at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and brings extensive stage experience to the film.
Meanwhile, two of Portland’s finest actors tackle the roles of Tim’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wyman, whose complicated relationship with their son tarnishes his search for love. Quigley Landrum portrays the regal Mexico-born Mrs. Wyman, and Greg James (Wild) plays the ruggedly handsome Mr. Wyman.
A DIFFERENT MRS. BENTLEY Jana Lee Hamblin takes over the role of Mrs. Bentley from the previously announced Shannon Day, whose visa for her overseas sabbatical precluded her availability during the scheduled shoot dates this summer. As previously announced, veteran character actor Ron Boyd will portray Mr. Bentley. Learn more about them on the Cast page.

Awesome casting! I really hope that a huge studio/film company will pick it up so that this film will go big! What I appreciate most are the actors who will play Ben, Tim, and Jace (ESPECIALLY JACE! Like you guys read my mind! Exactly how I pictured Jace!). I’m just wondering if you asked the actor who played Brian to be blonde?
I have mixed feelings for Ben and Tim’s actors, since Ben is supposed to have the messy, straight her, and Tim’s actor doesn’t come off as powerful as Tim. But fingers crossed that their skills and dharacter make me forget about those details!!! ♡♥ Loving Krista and Allison, as well!
I’m so excited for this movie!! It’s such a great book! Also I’m super excited to see Will Shepard and R.J. Aguiar!! Love their youtube channel!!!
