BACK DOWN UNDER Something Like Summer returns to Australia for its third screening, this time on October 26 at 7 p.m., opening the Cairns Queer Film Festival in Queensland.
“We can’t wait to screen for more people in Australia who have been clamoring to see the film,” said screenwriter and producer Carlos Pedraza. “We were so pleased to share the movie again after our successful world premiere in Sydney in February and a second screening in April. I’ve been to Cairns and it’s a wonderful community to host Summer.”
The festival is a rebranding of an event first held in Cairns from 2007-2013 in Cairns as the Tropical Alternative Film Festival and then renamed as the nonprofit Cairns Queer Film Festival (CQFF), offering its community six LGBTQ+ feature films over three days, October 26-28.
The Cairns festival is sponsored by the Queensland AIDS Council, Cairns Key Real Estate, Cairns Tropical Pride, Rob Pine, Cairns Sexual Health and Beaches Music Studio.
